Water or Aqua represents purity and healing. It has life-supporting power, and our soul is soothed by its energy as rain, mist, ocean waves, or river songs . Water shows us how to realize our soul power and become a nurturing presence.
Water teaches us how to be still and see clearly like a mirror. It also teaches us to learn to let go and consciously move on otherwise, it stagnates . The same is true for our spiritual practice; we need both the clarity of meditation and wise action.
Wind or Air represents openness, & clarity. Air as a subtle, pervasive, and essential support for life teaches us how to connect with our Spirit. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear the sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. It is the same way with Spirit, with God. We can’t see God, the source of our life, but we can intuit, discern, and feel that
reality.
Earth element contains the quality of heaviness that provides its stability. It is grounding and calming and keeps the ego in balance. Earth represents the structure of the universe. It gives form to the human body, and to all of creation.
Earth element is associated with the nose and our capacity to smell. We can smell the fragrance of earth. We can also smell water or air, but that is only possible due to the presence of some portion of earth element. Pure water has no smell, nor does air or fire.

Space or Akash gives rise to all the other elements . All things arise in it and return to it. We can think of space as expressing in 3 different but interconnected ways: the infinite, unbounded space of Spirit i.e. individual consciousness and physical space i.e. our bodies and environment.
Space can be physical, mental, or spiritual. It is omnipresent and connected to our inner wisdom and intuition and determines our fears. Space enables us to freely express ourself and feel connected with the world around us.
